Cebu rediscovery tour

twin island discovery tour
Duration: 5 hours Departs: 8am and 1 pm Trace the journey of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan when he landed in Cebu on April 1521, till his defeat by chieftain Lapu–Lapu in the Battle of Mactan. Visit major landmarks in Cebu like Magellan’s Cross, Fort San Pedro, Basilica of the Santo Niño and Casa Gorordo. Cross over to Mactan Island to the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Rule, then drive to the final stop at the Liberty Shrine, site of the triumphant battle of Lapu–Lapu over Magellan. This event is re–enacted & celebrated with a dance drama presentation called “The Battle of Mactan” every 27th of April. Visit a guitar factory.

Duration: 4-5hrs Departs: 8am Start with a visit to Fort San Pedro, the world’s smallest and only triangular Fort that was used by Spanish conquerors in 1565 as a stronghold to stop the natives from entering the city. Continue the Heritage Trail on a local horse drawn carriage called “ Calesa” to visit Magellan’s Cross at the Plaza Sugbo; walk to the Basilica of the Santo Niño (Child Jesus); Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, the seat of the Archdiocese of Cebu & the Museum of Sacred Treasures. Proceed by calesa to The Heritage Monument, a bronze sculpture showing the different eras of Cebu’s history. Make a final stop at The Jesuit House or The Yap–Sandiego Ancestral Home to savor the elegance of the 19th century lifestyle, and then drive back to your hotel.
